Carlow is hosting its annual Carlow Autumn Bilingual Festival, Glór Cheatharlach. The highlights of the festival will be ‘Amhrán na Mara’ exclusive screenings ‘as Gaeilge’ mystical film Song of the Sea and ‘Réalt na Mara’ the award-winning epic stage adaptation of Joseph O’Connor’s best-selling novel set in 1847 on board the famine ship Star of the Sea enroute for New York. With the centenary celebrations of the 1916 Easter Rising less than a year away “Ireland:Birth of a Nation” is a must see.
